Tuskegee Airmen

6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
North Muskegon Branch

Description

Amber of Military History 101 returns for a presentation of the Tuskegee Aimen, the first Black military aviators in the U.S. Army Air Force. Despite facing racial prejudice and segregation at home and in the armed forces, these pilots, navigators, bombardiers, and ground crews distinguished themselves as one of the most decorated fighter groups of World War II. Amber will detail their training in Tuskegee, Alabama, their famed missions protecting Allied bombers over Europe, and the mark their service left on the fight for Civil Rights and the eventual integration of the U.S. Armed Forces.
